Creating Dream Homes With the Design-build Process

You have finally decided that this year is the year you renovate your home & want to turn your old kitchen into a dream kitchen and that leaky bathroom into a spa. You may have ideas about what you want or need guidance on designing your space. Knowing how to get started and who to hire can feel overwhelming. Every dream home requires a team of specialists to turn your vision into reality. At Hudson Home Improvement, we have a unique design-build process and a team of experts who can meet your needs, wants, and budget. We are a full-service, licensed, NJ design contractor. Here is what that means for you and why design-build is the way to go.

What is Design-build? & Design-build Process

Design-build is a project management method in which the homeowner interacts with only one point person throughout the project. Unlike multiple contracts from other trades, the owner manages only one contract. You would likely interact with the business owner, contractor, or lead carpenter who acts as your partner project manager.

Remodeling can be a stressful undertaking. That’s why our design-build method is a simple, streamlined process that partners with clients every step of the way.

Our Design-build Process Method:

  1. During the Discovery Phase: we discuss your ideas and provide a ballpark price. We understand that cost is a significant factor when choosing a contractor. However, we urge you not to overlook the value of working with an experienced professional remodeler like us. Our reputation for delivering high-quality results and exceptional customer service should give you the confidence that your project is in good hands. In this phase, we both decide if Hudson Home Improvement is a good match for your project.
  2. Preliminary Design: When you decide to work with us, we proceed to preliminary design. We will discuss the details of your project and may refer you to an architect for plans. We provide expert advice on best design practices and material selections within your budget and style. Once the plans are complete, we develop a Scope of Work containing all your project’s minute details so you will know exactly what to expect.
  3. Scope Development: This document outlines the details and steps of your project, including materials, prices, and timelines. You will review it, and we will discuss any changes or fine-tuning.
  4. Final Price and Target Budget: Based on the scope of work, we will present you with a final price and target budget. We will keep the price within your budget and design goals.
  5. Hiring and Contract: Once the Scope of Work is approved, we will present you with a contract. Upon signing the contract, we will submit the necessary documents to the building department to obtain a permit (if necessary). Then, we can move on to the most exciting step.
  6. Construction: Finally, we begin work on your dream project! Our highly skilled project manager will be on-site to manage the work.  You can expect regular weekly meetings to allow for clear communication, setting expectations, and addressing issues or concerns. Our clients have access to our construction management software, where you can access the schedule, invoices, change orders, product selections, and photos of current work being done. Hudson Home Improvement will manage the inspection schedule and communication with your city’s inspectors. When you follow our design-build process, you can be confident your vision will come to life on time and budget, without the stress.
